#477 Harry Potter: The Exhibition

OH MY GOD! I don't know why I didn't know about this earlier (okay, maybe I do), now I'm dying to go! T_T
Thanks to Louis who posted this picture on Facebook!

Rawr, I jelly! T_T

I super gatal, so I went and Googled Harry Potter exhibition, and walah, search result comes up. First link was to the Harry Potter exhibition website itself. There's nothing much on the website, but you can go and have a look at the gallery section. I would think that that particular page will be the one that everyone would like to see the most.

At the moment, the exhibition is at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia. The exhibition will be until 18th March 2012. At the exhibition, you'll get to see props and costumes used in the movie, and be transported to Hogwarts itself! How cool is that!?

!@#$%

Anyway.. I've always wanted the Marauder's Map, which I think is super cool, if it actually existed. But obviously it doesn't. But I'd still like it anyway. I'm not sure if they have it at the merchandise store, but here are some of the popular things sold at the store:

  • Exclusive Harry Potter: The Exhibition Programme ($25)

chocolate frog

  • Chocolate frogs ($5) - They were available in KL once, then, no more! T_T

bertie botts

  • Bertie Botts ($5)

sirius wanted poster

  • Sirius Black Wanted Poster ($15)
  • Collectable Wands – Harry Potter, Hermione Granger ($60)
  • Harry Potter: The Exhibition Mug ($20)

hogwarts scarf

  • House Scarves ($30)
  • House Beanies ($25)
  • Harry Potter Glasses ($13)
  • Hedwig Key ring ($8)

I want the scarf! And chocolate frogs! Rawr!

Here are the top 20 sights at the exhibition by the Sydney Morning Herald.

British twins James Phelps (L) and Oliver Phelps (R), who play Fred and George Weasley from the Harry Potter film series, play with broomsticks in Hagrid's hut. A chance to enter the cottage is a dream come true for die-hard Harry Potter fans.Photo: AFP PHOTO / Torsten BLACKWOOD
03
Many of the exhibits are interactive, but this is one of the most entertaining. When you lift these mandrakes out of their pots, they screech just like "real" madrakes do at Hogwarts.
04
Quidditch! If only this wacky game existed in the real world. At least you can gaze upon the uniforms, brooms and other equipment that players need to take part in the wizarding world's favourite sport.
05
It's the outfit that little Daniel Radcliffe wore in the very first film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Harry confronted Voldemort . The simple red jumper and cream pants are now iconic.
06
No journey into the world of Harry Potter would be complete without a visit to the Forbidden Forest, where you can see a pair of centaurs (L) and a model of a Hungarian horntail dragon. Photo: AFP PHOTO / Torsten BLACKWOOD
07
You might think you want to go to Hogwart's, but seeing creatures like this giant and hairy Acromantuala will make you glad you live in the real world where spiders are small.
08
It may look like your granny's dressing gown, but it's actually Voldemort's robes. It just shows you that if you're evil and powerful, it doesn't matter what you wear.
09
The suits, dresses and robes worn by the cast to the Yule Ball are some of the most exciting to see up close. There's Krum's spot-the-foreigner suit with fur trimmings, Hermoine's flowing lilac gown and Ron's hilariously awful hand-me-down dress robes.
10
There's a wonderful attention to detail in this model of Buckbeak the brave Hippogriff.
11
An unsettling trio of Death Eaters add to the thrill factor of the exhibit.
12
When asked which was his favourite piece in the entire exhibition, actor James Phelps ( Fred Weasley) named The Deathly Hallows. The Hallows are three precious objects: the Resurrection Stone, the Elder Wand and the Invisibility Cloak.
13
Who doesn't love Dobby? The lovable hous elf is a highlight of the exhibition.
14
If you weren't already scared of clowns, this ought to do it. This Jack-in-the-box was featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
15
Is that really Daniel Radcliffe's blood? Sadly, it's not. But it's still creepy to see the tools Professor Umbridge used in her reign of terror at Hogwart's.
16
Finding the horcruxes helped Harry, Ron and Hermoine defeat Voldemort and now you can see many of them up close. From left to right, it's Tom Riddle's diary, the Basilisk fang Harry used to destroy it, Salazar Slytherin's locket, Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem and Helga Hufflepuff's cup.
17
Which Hogwart's house do you belong in? Follow the example of Harry Potter fan Nadia Odlum and let the sorting hat decide. You can try on a real set of Hogwart's robes and listen to the hat pronounce your fate. Photo: AFPPHOTO / Torsten BLACKWOOD
18
Where else can you get such a fine range of wizarding wares? Books, prop replicas, costumes, toys and treats are all for sale at the exhibition.
19
It's rare for the Harry and his friends in anything fancy, but these costumes were one of the few exceptions. These lovely dresses were worn by Hermoine (Emma Granger) and Luna (Evanna Lynch) at the wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 1.
20
The atmospheric Angel of Death statue was used by Wormtail to restrain Harry in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
21
Creepy Kreacher is even creepier up close. Admire the detailed work on his yellowed teeth, pointy ears and frightening expression.

For more information on the exhibition, go to their website and check out the Press and Gallery section.

If you're thinking of getting tickets, head on over to Powerhouse Museum's website and get your tickets online! Advisable to avoid disappointment as they limit the number of people entering at one time.

Now, with all that said, who wants to help me come up with a proposal for companies to bring the Harry Potter exhibition to Kuala Lumpur? Those who are interested in helping can email me, and we'll set a meeting or something. Hope to hear from all you Malaysian Potterheads!

Before I end..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
